Pat Fordee was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Fordee had offers to play college football, but he decided not to pursue the athletic route and chose to attend the University of Missouri.

At Missouri, Fordee was on the path toward a bachelor’s degree in journalism and was involved with two publications: The Maneater and Columbian Missourian.

Fordee graduated from Mizzou in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and wanted to continue working for a newspaper.

He landed a job with the Louisville Courier Journal as a high school sports reporter.

For five years, Fordee covered high school sports, regional college sports, and then eventually the University of Kentucky for the Courier Journal.

In 1992, Fordee became a columnist at the Courier Journal and held that position for 12 years.

While working as a columnist, Fordee freelanced for ESPN, which at that time was known as ESPN Sports Zone.

After years of freelancing, he was hired as a fulltime columnist at ESPN in 2004.

After seven years at ESPN, Fordee moved to Yahoo! Sports, where he has columns such as the “Fordee-Yard Dash” and “Fordee Minutes.” Aside from working at Yahoo! Sports, Fordee contributed to Rick Pitino’s book, “Rebound Rules: The Art of Success 2.0.”
